Afinil Free Modafinil Samples Review
Written by Dr. Marcus Bennett · · Fact-checked October 2026 · How we review
Free stuff is always a little suspicious, so let's look at it properly. Afinil offers free modafinil and armodafinil samples to customers who want to try its products before buying. We think this is one of the most useful things the vendor does, and here's why, plus the small print.
What's on offer
Afinil's "Free Trial Smart Drugs" section lists free modafinil samples and free armodafinil samples, shown at an original price of $29 and a current price of $0. There's also a domestic US version. Afinil's pitch is that you can try different brands before deciding which one to order in bulk, and that samples are dispatched within hours.
Why samples are the smart first move
Most people think of samples as "try the pill." We think of them as "try the vendor." A free sample order tells you:
- How quickly the vendor actually dispatches.
- Whether the tracking email shows up and works.
- How long delivery takes to your address in real life.
- Whether the parcel arrives intact and discreet, and whether customs takes an interest.
- What the blister packs look like: brand, strength, batch and expiry date.
- Whether support replies if you ask something.
All of that, for no money down on pills. If the samples go badly, you've learned something important without losing anything.
What samples don't tell you
- That every future batch will be identical.
- That a big order will clear customs as easily as a small one. Afinil itself says customs is more interested in bigger parcels.
- Whether modafinil is right for you medically. Only a doctor can help with that.
How to claim them
- Go to the free modafinil samples (or armodafinil samples) product on Afinil.
- Add it to your cart.
- At checkout, look at the total. Samples themselves are $0; check whether there's a shipping charge for your order and route.
- Enter your full address carefully.
- Wait for the order confirmation, then the tracking email.
You may also find Afinil adds a few sample pills to paid orders; its domestic shipping page mentions adding free samples to your cart so you can test other brands.
Modafinil or armodafinil samples?
| Modafinil samples | Armodafinil samples | |
|---|---|---|
| Typical brands | ModaXL, Modalert, Modvigil and similar | ArmodaXL, Waklert, Artvigil and similar |
| Feel (general reports) | Classic, several-hour effect | Longer, flatter effect |
| Best for | First-timers | People who found modafinil wore off early |
Not sure? Read ModaXL 200 mg and ArmodaXL 150 mg.
Testing brands sensibly
If you've already talked to a doctor and decided to try modafinil, here's a sensible way to use a mixed sample pack:
- Try one brand at a time, on separate days, with at least a day or two in between.
- Take each dose in the morning.
- Write down how you slept that night, any headache, appetite change, or jitteriness.
- Don't stack with lots of coffee, so you can tell what the pill is doing.
- Stop immediately if you get a rash.
Brands with the same active ingredient and strength should feel broadly similar. If one feels very different, note it; it might be the brand, or just a different day.
The catches, honestly
- Legality doesn't change because it's free. A free sample of a Schedule IV drug is still a Schedule IV drug. Read our legal notes.
- New customers only. Don't expect a sample every month.
- Stock varies. The brand mix you get may differ from someone else's.
- Marketing intent. Samples exist to get you buying. That's fine, just don't let a nice sample experience turn into a giant first order.
What to do after the samples
If delivery was smooth and the packs looked right, a small paid order is the next step. If you're in the US and in a hurry, compare with domestic USPS shipping. If something was off, such as damaged blisters, missing expiry dates or no tracking, take that as your answer and walk away.
A simple sample-testing plan
If samples arrive with more than one brand, test them in a way that gives you useful answers:
- One brand per day, with a day off between. Don't stack brands, and don't test two in one day.
- Same conditions. Same wake time, same breakfast (or none), same caffeine. Otherwise you're comparing your mornings, not the brands.
- Early doses only. Take it within an hour of waking so the test doesn't cost you a night's sleep.
- Write it down. Note onset time, how long it lasted, side effects, and when you fell asleep.
- Retest your favorite. One good day can be luck. Two is a pattern.
Made-up example log: "Day 1, Modalert: onset 1h, steady, mild headache. Day 3, Modvigil: onset 1.5h, smoother, no headache. Day 5, Waklert: long tail, awake until 1am." Nobody needs a spreadsheet, but a few notes stop you from buying 100 pills of the wrong brand.
Who samples suit best
- First-time buyers who want to check Afinil before spending money.
- Brand switchers who are unhappy with their current generic and want to compare a few.
- Modafinil vs armodafinil fence-sitters. Order both sample types if you can and see which tail suits your day.
- International buyers who want to see how their country's customs treats a small parcel before risking a bigger one.
People who already know their brand and dose usually skip samples and go straight to a pack, since Bitcoin's discount and bulk pricing add up.
What to check when the parcel arrives
- The blister foil printing: brand, strength, manufacturer, batch number, expiry date.
- That the strength matches what you ordered. A 150 is not a 200.
- That nothing looks crushed, damp or tampered with.
- That the packaging is discreet, which matters if you share a mailbox.
If something looks off, contact Afinil support with photos before you take anything. If the parcel never arrives, the same policy applies as with paid orders: a reship if tracking stalls for 15+ business days, and a refund or reship after 30 days with nothing. On a $0 order, a reship is the realistic outcome. See our reshipment guide.
Samples and the law
A free sample is still modafinil. The legal situation in your country is the same as for a full order: Schedule IV in the US and needs a valid prescription from a licensed US prescriber. Read our legal notes and our US domestic shipping review before ordering.
Verdict
Afinil's free samples are genuinely useful, mostly as a free test of the vendor itself. Claim them before anything else, take notes, and only scale up if the experience is clean.
