Afinil's Reshipment Policy, Explained Like a Friend Would
A good reship policy is what separates a vendor you can deal with from one you can't. When you're buying from overseas, parcels get stuck, delayed or seized, and what matters is what the vendor does next. Afinil's policy is unusually clear on paper. Here's what it actually says, what it doesn't cover, and how to make a claim without the back-and-forth.
The policy in one paragraph
Afinil says that if your order doesn't arrive within 30 days, or you're unsatisfied, you can choose a full refund or a reshipment. If an order is stopped for more than 15 business days, it says it will send a free reshipment, but you have to contact them. If a parcel is lost, damaged or seized by customs, its shipping page promises a full refund or reship. If the problem is your fault, such as a wrong address or not picking up the parcel after a failed delivery, you get a reship only, no refund.
The important numbers
| Rule | Number |
|---|---|
| Stuck in transit before reship is offered | 15 business days |
| Not delivered before refund or reship is guaranteed | 30 days |
| Refund processing time | Up to 14 business days (usually 2-5) |
| Cancellation window after a paid order | 2 hours |
| Customs clearance normally | 1-3 business days, up to 7 |
What counts as "your fault"
Afinil spells out two cases where you only get a reship: giving an improper or invalid shipping address, and not being home or not picking up the delivery after a failed attempt. So before ordering:
- Include your apartment number, full postcode and a phone number if the form allows.
- If you'll be away, choose a delivery method that doesn't need a signature (Registered Airmail), or write "No signature" in the checkout notes for EMS, as Afinil suggests.
- Check your mailbox for "we missed you" cards.
Seizures: the uncomfortable part
Afinil's policy covering seized parcels is generous, and it tells you something: seizures happen often enough to need a policy. In the US, modafinil is Schedule IV and needs a valid prescription from a licensed US prescriber. Customs can and does seize prescription drugs arriving without a prescription. If that happens you may get a letter. Read it, and don't ignore it. A reship replaces the pills, but it doesn't change the legal position. See our legal notes.
How to claim, step by step
- Check tracking first. Afinil asks you to confirm on its tracking page that your delivery is actually overdue. Remember that parcels from Singapore may not show any tracking until they land in your country.
- Wait out the window. For EMS to the US that's 7-12 business days plus customs; for Registered Airmail, 10-18 days.
- Contact support. Use the "Submit a request" form with your order number and email. Add your tracking number to save a round trip.
- Say what you want. Reship or refund. Afinil says the choice is yours in non-delivery cases.
- Keep records. Screenshots of tracking, any customs letters, and Afinil's replies.
Refunds that come back as store credit
Afinil notes that in some cases it can't issue a cash refund, for example when the original payment method doesn't allow it, and gives store credit instead. That credit goes into your account wallet and, per Afinil, never expires. It's real value, but it means your money stays with Afinil. If cash matters to you, ask about the refund method before you claim. Full details in our store credit guide.
Bulk orders get split
Afinil says it splits big orders into smaller parcels sent 3-5 days apart, because customs pays more attention to big ones. So if part of your order arrives and part doesn't, don't claim straight away; check whether the rest is simply a later parcel. Ask support how many parcels to expect.
What the policy doesn't promise
- It doesn't promise speed on the reship. A reship has to travel just as far as the original.
- It doesn't cover you legally. Nothing a vendor writes can.
- It isn't automatic. Afinil is clear: contact us.
- It doesn't override a chargeback penalty. Afinil warns that a card chargeback costs you your membership. Use the policy first.
A made-up timeline to show how it works
Made-up example: you order on a Monday by EMS to the US. Dispatch happens that day. Tracking shows nothing until day 6 when it lands. Customs holds it. By day 20 business days nothing has moved. You've passed the 15-business-day mark, so you message support with your order and tracking numbers. They offer a reship, which goes out two days later. If that one also stalls past 30 days, you're well inside refund territory.
How Afinil's policy compares with typical vendors
Many modafinil vendors offer a reship, but often only once, only after 30+ days, or only for certain shipping methods. Afinil's written policy is clearer than most: two separate time triggers, explicit seizure coverage, and a choice between reship and refund. Whether it's honored smoothly in practice depends on support, so if you've had an experience, good or bad, we'd love to hear it on our contact page.
Tips that make claims painless
- Order to an address where someone can sign or where parcels are safe.
- Don't panic-message on day three; it slows everything.
- One clear message with all details beats five short ones.
- If you suspect a seizure, mention any letter you received.
How reship claims work for US orders
The policy is the same for every order, but a few US details change how a claim plays out:
- United States: CBP seizures usually come with a letter. Keep it, since it's the clearest proof for a claim. EMS needs a signature unless you've asked for "No signature," and a missed signature that leads to a return counts as a failed pickup, which gets a reship only.
- Customs holds: a parcel can sit at an international mail facility for extra days while CBP inspects it. Tracking that reads "held" or "in customs" isn't a seizure yet. Wait for the 15-business-day mark before asking.
- Split parcels: large orders can arrive as several parcels with separate tracking numbers. Claim only for the parcel that's actually stuck, not the whole order.
- The law doesn't change: a reship or refund promise doesn't make an import without a prescription legal. Modafinil is a Schedule IV controlled substance, and a seizure notice is a sign to stop ordering, not to reorder.

Verdict
Afinil's reshipment policy is one of its strongest points: specific timelines, seizure coverage and a reship-or-refund choice. It only helps if you follow the process, and it can't protect you from the legal side of importing prescription drugs.
