ModaXL / ArmodaXL Superior Pack: Worth It or Not?
"Is the Superior Pack worth it?" is really two questions. First: do you want both modafinil and armodafinil? Second: do you need at least 100 pills? If the answer to both is yes, the pack is a tidy way to order. If either answer is no, there are better-fitting options.
This review uses Afinil's own product page (checked October 22, 2026) and the official FDA labels for Provigil (modafinil) and Nuvigil (armodafinil). We haven't run our own tests on the tablets.
What's in the Superior Pack
According to Afinil, the ModaXL / ArmodaXL Superior Combo Pack contains its two best-selling house brands:
- ModaXL 200 mg, a modafinil generic of Provigil.
- ArmodaXL 150 mg, an armodafinil generic of Nuvigil.
The pack has fixed total sizes, and you choose how many of each brand go into it. Afinil pitches it at two kinds of buyers: newcomers who want to try both drugs before settling on one, and long-time users who like to alternate brands.
Afinil says HOF Pharmaceuticals makes both brands. The page also says the pack "may include" Sublingual Modafil MD by INTAS and other modafinil brands such as Modafresh, Modawake or Vilafinil, and asks you to specify your drug preference when ordering. If you want only ModaXL and ArmodaXL, say so clearly in the order notes and check the strips when they arrive.
Listed prices
When we checked, the pack was priced from $199 to $4,999 with these per-pill options:
| Pack size | Listed price per pill | Approx. total |
|---|---|---|
| 100 pills | $1.99 | $199 |
| 200 pills | $1.69 | $338 |
| 300 pills | $1.66 | $498 |
| 500 pills | $1.59 | $795 |
| 1,000 pills | $1.09 | $1,090 |
| 2,000 pills | $1.05 | $2,100 |
| 5,000 pills | $0.99 | about $4,950 |
Totals are our arithmetic from the per-pill price; the checkout figure is what counts. Afinil also advertised a crypto discount and free shipping over a spend threshold, which a 100-pill pack clears on its own.
Is it cheaper than buying separately?
Not per pill. From 100 pills up, the pack's per-pill prices matched the standard ladder Afinil used for many single 200 mg brands at the same sizes when we checked. What you gain is one order, one shipment and the freedom to split the count between two drugs. What you give up is the option to start small: the single-brand listings go down to 10 pills, the pack starts at 100.
Made-up example: someone wants 50 ModaXL and 50 ArmodaXL. Ordering the pack at 100 pills costs about $199. Ordering 50 of each separately at the 50-pill price would cost more per pill and might mean two parcels. For that buyer, the pack is the better deal.
Modafinil vs armodafinil: why you'd want both
The two drugs are close relatives. Armodafinil is the R-isomer, the longer-lasting half of the modafinil molecule. That's why the label doses differ:
- Provigil (modafinil): 200 mg once a day, in the morning for narcolepsy or OSA, or about an hour before a shift for shift work disorder.
- Nuvigil (armodafinil): 150 mg or 250 mg once a day for OSA and narcolepsy (no consistent extra benefit at 250 mg), or 150 mg about an hour before a shift.
People often describe armodafinil as smoother and longer, and modafinil as a little quicker to fade. Some people prefer one, some the other, and the only way to know is to try each on its own, with a doctor's guidance. That's the pack's real selling point.
For deeper single-product detail, see our ModaXL 200 mg review and ArmodaXL 150 mg review.
Never on the same day
Don't take ModaXL and ArmodaXL together. Afinil's page also tells buyers to ask a doctor what can and can't be combined. The two drugs act the same way in the body, so combining them just means a bigger dose of the same drug, with more side effects and worse sleep. Pick one per day.
A sensible way to use a mixed pack
If you and your doctor decide to compare the two, a structured approach tells you more than random use:
- Start with ModaXL on a normal day, taken early in the morning.
- Take a day off.
- Try ArmodaXL on a similar day, also early.
- Note onset, how long it lasted, side effects and how you slept.
- Repeat each a few times before deciding.
Keep the days comparable: similar sleep the night before, similar breakfast, similar caffeine. Otherwise you're comparing your mornings, not the drugs.
Side effects to know
Both labels list the same family of common side effects: headache (the most common), nausea, dizziness, nervousness or anxiety, and trouble sleeping. Rare but serious warnings include rash (stop at the first sign), allergic reactions, psychiatric symptoms and chest pain or palpitations. Both can make hormonal contraceptives less effective during use and for a month after stopping. See our medical disclaimer.
Who the Superior Pack suits
- People who already know they'll use at least 100 tablets and want both drugs.
- Buyers comparing modafinil and armodafinil who want one parcel instead of two.
- Regular users who alternate between the two.
Who should skip it
- First-time buyers. 100 pills is a lot to commit to before you know modafinil suits you. Try Afinil's free samples or a small single-brand pack first.
- People who only want one drug. Buy that brand on its own.
- Anyone who wants Sun Pharma brands. The modafinil and armodafinil saver pack pairs Modalert and Waklert instead.
- US buyers in a hurry should check the shipping option. Afinil listed the pack under its US domestic shipping category (USPS, 3-4 days per Afinil), but confirm that option at checkout. See our domestic USPS shipping review.
About the "stronger" claims
Afinil says both ModaXL and ArmodaXL have a 5% better absorption rate and up to 30% stronger peak effects than other generics such as Modalert and Waklert. We couldn't find independent studies supporting those figures. Treat them as marketing, and judge the brands by how they work for you.
Legal notes
Modafinil and armodafinil are Schedule IV controlled substances in the US and prescription-only. Federal rules allow a Schedule IV prescription to be refilled at most five times within six months. A 100-pill-plus order is a bigger quantity than a first sample, and large parcels can attract more customs attention. See our legal notes.
Storage
Keep tablets in their original strips, at room temperature, away from children. Check expiry dates when the parcel arrives; with packs this size, make sure you'll realistically use them before they expire.
Verdict
The Superior Pack is worth it if you want both ModaXL and ArmodaXL and you'll genuinely use 100 or more tablets. It doesn't lower the per-pill price compared with ModaXL at the same size, but it lets you split one order between two drugs and get it in one parcel. For first-timers or single-drug buyers, it's simply too big. Start smaller, talk to a doctor, and never take the two on the same day.
FAQ
What's in the Superior Pack?
ModaXL 200 mg (modafinil) and ArmodaXL 150 mg (armodafinil), Afinil's two house brands. You choose how many of each go into the total pill count.
What's the smallest Superior Pack?
When we checked on October 22, 2026, the smallest option was 100 pills at a listed $1.99 each, so about $199. Sizes went up to 5,000 pills.
Is the Superior Pack cheaper than buying separately?
At the same pill count, the per-pill ladder matched Afinil's single-brand ModaXL listing when we checked. The pack's value is the mix in one order, not a lower per-pill price. Compare your cart before ordering.
Can I take ModaXL and ArmodaXL together?
No. They're closely related drugs that act the same way, so taking both at once is effectively a bigger dose, with more side-effect risk. Use one or the other on any given day, as your doctor advises.
Is ArmodaXL stronger than ModaXL?
Armodafinil is dosed lower (150 mg vs 200 mg) because it's the longer-lasting part of the modafinil molecule. Many people feel it lasts longer rather than feeling "stronger". Afinil's "30% stronger peak" claims for both brands aren't independently verified.
Who makes ModaXL and ArmodaXL?
Afinil says HOF Pharmaceuticals in India makes both. The pack page also says it may include Sublingual Modafil MD by INTAS or other brands, so state your preference and check the strips you receive.
Is 100 pills too many for a first order?
For most beginners, yes. A small single-brand pack or free samples is a cheaper way to learn whether modafinil suits you at all.
Do I need a prescription?
Yes in the US, where modafinil and armodafinil are Schedule IV and prescription-only. Federal rules allow a Schedule IV prescription to be refilled at most five times within six months.
How long will the pills keep?
Check the expiry date printed on each strip. Afinil says ArmodaXL keeps for up to three years, but go by the packaging, not the website.
