Afinil Store Credit: How It Works (and When to Ask for Cash)

· · Fact-checked October 2026 · How we review

Using Afinil store credit at checkout
How to spend your Wallet balance

Sometimes an Afinil refund doesn't come back as money. Instead it lands as store credit in your account "Wallet." That can be confusing the first time, so here's what's going on, how to see your balance, how to spend it, and when it's worth asking for cash instead.

When you get store credit instead of cash

Afinil's store credit page explains that in some cases it's impossible to issue a cash refund, giving the example of a refund after paying with PayPal. When it can't refund to the original method, it offers store credit that, in its words, never expires. The credit goes into the Wallet on your Afinil account.

You might also end up with store credit if:

  • You overpaid a Bitcoin order and asked for the difference as credit.
  • Support offered credit as compensation for a delay.
  • You chose credit rather than a reship for a lost parcel.

Store credit, cash refund, or reship?

OptionYou getGood when

ReshipSame order sent againYou still want the product

If you know you won't buy again, say so up front and ask whether a cash refund is possible. If you'll reorder, credit is fine and often quicker.

How to find your balance

  1. Log in to Afinil with your email or the social login you used (Afinil mentions Facebook, Sign in with Apple and Twitter).
  2. Go to My Account.
  3. Open the Wallet tab.
  4. Your available store credit balance is shown there.

When you're logged in, Afinil says you'll also see the Wallet balance on the checkout page.

Can't log in? Use the password reset link. If that fails, Afinil's support team can send you a reset link.

How to spend it

  1. Log in first. Credit only works on a logged-in account.
  2. Add what you want to your cart and go to checkout.
  3. You'll see a Wallet payment method with your balance.
  4. Select it. If your balance covers the total, that's it. If not, pay the rest with Bitcoin or a card.
  5. Complete checkout as normal.

Made-up example to show the math: you have $159 in credit and place a $29 order. After checkout your Wallet shows $130 left, waiting for next time.

You don't have to use credit on an order; you can pick a different payment method and save the balance.

Getting the most out of credit

  • Stack it with coupons. Afinil says store credit can be combined with promotional offers. Afinil also sends a $25 coupon after an order and offers $30 off for posting a review.
  • Save it for a bigger order. Free EMS shipping starts at $180 and free Airmail at $130, per Afinil. Using credit on a larger order can push you over a free-shipping line without extra spending.
  • Try a new brand. Credit is a low-stress way to try armodafinil if you've only had modafinil, or vice versa.
  • Keep a note. "Never expires" is only useful if you remember it's there. Screenshot your Wallet balance.

Watch-outs

  • It's tied to your account. Lose access to the email and you've got a support ticket on your hands. Use an email you'll keep.
  • It's only good at Afinil. It's not money; it's a promise from one vendor.
  • Withdrawals aren't guaranteed. Afinil's page points you to support for "wallet balance withdrawal," but it doesn't promise you can always withdraw. Ask before you accept credit if cash matters.
  • Credit doesn't change the law. Using a Wallet balance is still an order of a prescription drug. See our legal notes.

How store credit fits the bigger refund picture

Store credit is the last step of Afinil's problem-handling process: check tracking, contact support, then choose a reship or refund, with credit used when a cash refund isn't possible. Read the full flow in our reshipment policy explainer.

What to write to support

Short and specific works best. Something like: "Hi, order number 12345. My parcel didn't arrive within 30 days (tracking attached). I'd like a cash refund to my original payment method if possible; if not, please add store credit to my Wallet and confirm the amount." That covers everything in one go.

Is store credit a red flag?

Not on its own. Many online shops use credit when the original payment can't be refunded. What would worry us is a vendor that *only* offers credit, refuses to say whether withdrawal is possible, or quietly lets credit expire. Afinil's written policy says credit never expires and points to support for withdrawals, which is about as good as it gets with this type of vendor.

Store credit from coupons vs from refunds

Not all Wallet credit gets there the same way. Reward credit comes from Afinil's offers: a $25 coupon after you order and $30 for writing a review. Refund credit comes from an order problem that was settled as credit rather than cash or a reship. Both sit in the same Wallet tab and, per Afinil, don't expire. The practical difference: you can choose whether to take refund credit, but reward credit only ever comes as credit. If you're owed a refund and would rather have cash, ask for that before accepting credit.

A made-up example of credit math

Made-up numbers to show how it adds up: you place a $150 order and get the $25 coupon. You review the product and get another $30. A month later, a stuck parcel worth $60 is settled as credit. That's $115 sitting in your Wallet. Your next $180 order would cost $65 out of pocket, plus whatever shipping applies. These numbers are illustrative only; check the live terms and your Wallet before planning around them.

Store credit and Bitcoin

If you pay with Bitcoin to get the 24% discount, check at checkout how credit and the discount interact on your order. The order of discounts can change the final total. Our Bitcoin guide explains the BTC side.

Verdict

Afinil store credit is straightforward: it lives in your Wallet, it doesn't expire, and it works at checkout alongside coupons. It's a fine outcome if you plan to reorder. If you don't, ask for a cash refund first and keep everything in writing.
